PositiviTuesday!

I find it interesting that I am not much of a fan of Mark Twain’s books; however, I do find myself bookmarking many of his quotes. He truly is insightful about many things.

This week, I would like to feature tips for a kick-ass life. I found this post on Henrik Edberg’s Positivity Blog and a few bits of this really struck a chord with me. I hope they help you as well! 🙂

“Let us live so that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry.”

Lighten up and have some fun.

“Against the assault of laughter nothing can stand.”

Keep your focus steadily on what you want.

“Drag your thoughts away from your troubles… by the ears, by the heels, or any other way you can manage it.”

Do what you want to do.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did so. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

I don’t have much to say after that last quote. In the words of Andy Dufresne, “get busy living or get busy dying.”

Let’s get busy living!

Happy Tuesday!

PositiviTuesday!

I currently have a lot on my plate right now. With online courses prepping me for grad school, a full-time job, and several other things, at times it can all be a bit overwhelming. I start doubting myself – “am I trying to do too much?” Juggling everything isn’t always easy, but with the proper motivation, I plan on powering through and dominating all the things in my path.

I recently found a list of quotes on Thought Catalog, “for when you start to doubt yourself.” I’ve listed my favorites below —

We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be obtained. – Marie Curie

I hope you live a life that you’re proud of. And if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over. – F. Scott Fitzgerald

A hero is someone who, in spite of weakness, doubt or not always knowing the answers, goes ahead and overcomes anyway. – Christopher Reeve

PositiviTuesday!

This year the first day of spring coincided with National Happiness Day. Let’s keep it going with some positive musical vibes and a happiness manifesto! 🙂

I hope you all enjoy your first week of spring!

A lot of people say there isn’t a formula to happiness. We respectfully disagree and believe that if you follow our happiness manifesto, you’ll find your joie de vivre.

  1. I will strive to be kind to others, no matter what.
  2. I will remember to be grateful every day.
  3. I will live my life to the fullest with no regrets.
  4. I won’t let other people bring me down.
  5. I will always try to see the other side and not just focus on my side of the story.
  6. I will smile often.
  7. I will regularly tell the people I love that I love them and why.
  8. I will give them hugs.
  9. I will shower my pet with love.
  10. I will look my best every day — to look good is to feel good.
  11. I will put myself first, because the best way to love others is to love myself first.
  12. I will love my body.
  13. I will embrace my differences.
  14. I will forgive because I deserve peace.
  15. I will listen with the intent to understand, not reply.
  16. I won’t compare myself to others.
  17. I will keep going when the going gets tough.
  18. I will surround myself with people who treat me right — love isn’t supposed to hurt.
  19. I will believe that anything is possible.
  20. I won’t live my life trying to please others.
  21. I will speak up when I need to.
  22. I will do the right thing even when it’s not easy.
  23. I will see failure as a learning experience.
  24. I will treat everyone around me the way I would like to be treated.
  25. I will be myself.

PositiviTuesday – St. Patty’s Style!

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, today’s PositiviTuesday will bring you quotes on luck!

Luck is believing you’re lucky.

This past week has been relatively hectic, but I am thankful that I got to enjoy an evening with old friends – and new ones – on Saturday for our SPD celebration. I hope you all had a great weekend!

The above quote is a great reminder. It seems like everyone is always ‘wanting’ and thinking those ‘wants’ are ‘needs.’ A lot of times we aren’t thinking about the long term – or even short term – consequences and end results. Sometimes that is okay, but we all know that a lot of times it ends up coming back around and it wasn’t necessarily worth it. I don’t think that this mindset will be changing any time soon. We have access to so much with the Internet constantly at our fingertips. This, in my opinion, encourages us to continue to ask and want more. You can only change this line of thought within yourself because the Internet is not going away – our access will only increase. This quote is obviously applicable to more than just my example of the Internet, but it seems the most relevant. We want more likes, more comments, more retweets – from strangers and friends alike.

I apologize this wasn’t completely uplifting, but I’d love to hear your thoughts.

To part, an Irish blessing for you all!

May the blessings of each day be the blessings you need most.

PositiviTuesday!

It’s Tuesday, again! The past week has been a fairly busy one, but now it’s onto the next!

Last night I attended a creative writing group session at my local library. As you may have read in my goals, I hope to participate (and dominate) in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) this year. I’m hoping this group can help propel me towards accomplishing this goal. There were approximately 15 people that joined this month and what I enjoyed the most was how open and helpful everyone was. We went through four pieces written by other group members – some poetry, some nonfiction – and provided our input. Everyone’s work was quite enjoyable and the writing styles were all different which I loved. I look forward to submitting some work of my own soon to get their feedback because it is insightful and uplifting (whether it is a praise or critique). The group’s positivity made me think about (and reminded me of) today’s post. I was nervous to attend the meeting. I felt intimidated a bit since I am at the very beginning of my writing adventure, but in reality, there was nothing to worry about. These were great people. It was a dramatic contrast compared to how my morning had gone (frustration, stress), which leads me to the quote I want to share with you today:

Busy

This proclamation resonates with what is probably my favorite quote:

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.

-Mae West

I use this quote specifically on my Pinterest bucket list board; however, it is also a thought in the back of my mind on a regular basis. This statement is what I used to help define my goals for 2015 and I will use it to determine my goals in the future.

What quote do you tend to live by?

PositiviTuesday!

There are two images I want to share with you today. Both of these should be on your mind. Every day. I’ll admit negative thoughts sometimes get the better of me and slow me down. It’s something I need to work on. Something I’m sure we all need to work on.

There is always at least one thing to be grateful for each and every day. If it helps, write down one thing you were grateful for at the end of the day – regardless of whether it was bad or good.

Every one has dreams. I’m currently working (maybe struggling is a more accurate description) on accomplishing some of my biggest ones. Prove the doubters wrong.
